F2 Weekly overview

Last week was a fantastic start to the new year. The children were delighted to be back and their enthusiasm was infectious! They LOVED the story of Jack and the bean stalk and the alternative version Jack and the incredibly mean stalk.

This week in literacy we’ll explore another version of Jack and the beanstalk as the children are super keen. We will explore retelling stories in different ways building on the children’s idea of creating a plasticine and props scene and filming it.

In maths we will continue to explore the whole part part model. Eg 5 is the whole the parts are 2 and 3. Thus is a key mathematical concept and the children have really taken it on board.

Building on the children’s interests we have lots more exciting opportunities in store including a deeper exploration of magnets. We are excited to be cooking eggs this week, again this came from the children’s interest (someone may have tried to eat the golden eggs from our Jack and the beanstalk scene).

There is so much more ahead for us which we will share as much as possible on the blog and twitter.

I'm Mrs Green and I joined WCPS in September 2019. I am passionate about Early years and can usually be found on the floor with our super 5 and 6 year olds. This year I have moved to teach in Year one! When I'm not at school I'll be with my children and dog on a muddy walk.
