Hooking into Weslandia with year 4 – British Values

I have had some amazing mornings with year 4 this week. I heard they were reading Weslandia in class and this made me think about den making and everything that involves. It was the perfect activity to help me help the children to recognize how they demonstrate and put into practice our school values and British values every time we are in the woods. We were able to talk about how they fit with our Forest School values about looking after ourselves, each other and the woods.

We created our own countries or territories and discussed the laws of our new lands. This had to be very democratic to include everyone’s ideas.

Forest School Practitioner

I started work as an SEND teacher and I... scratch that...As one of the children once told me "You're just Gilly who plays out with us and helps us to be safe." I'm sometimes a pirate, sometimes a Viking, sometimes the crazy story teller but I always aim to make it fun. I'm just Gilly and Forest School is my jam!
